PC/MAC SKILLS

I am very experienced using a variety or programs particularly Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Microsoft Office. As well as this I am very experienced using printing and scanning software. I am also competent using Dreamweaver, Flash and Quark.

INTERESTS

I have always been very interested in all areas of art and design. My work at the current time consists of mostly illustration with a strong emphasis on graphic design. As such I am interested in pursuing a career in either of these areas. One of the most important aspects of my work is colour, and a lot of my work uses bold, contrasting colours to try to get the attention of the viewer. I am particular interested in how different colours and shapes work together. My main mediums of choice for my illustration work are oil pastels and chalk pastels, however as well as this I enjoy painting, pencil drawing, collage, photography, and using computers.

My illustration work combines flat abstract blocks of colour with some more figurative drawing as well. Two major influences on my own work are: the paintings of the Fauves and Impressionists; and that of the Pop Artists. As such I am very keen to go to as many art galleries and see as many exhibitions as possible. I feel this important to help to learn and improve my own work.

Other than art, one of my main hobbies in reading books, newspapers and magazines. As a designer I believe it is very important to know exactly what is happening in the world, current trends and fashions, and the context to which my work fits in with all of this. This all helps to develop my own ideas and work, and helps identify possible outlets for my work. As well as this it is a good way of finding out about other people’s ideas and thoughts. So I enjoy reading and learning about current affairs, politics, our culture and other cultures. I am also interested in travel and learning about other areas in the world.

My other hobbies include listening to music, watching films and television, as well as occasionally playing golf and swimming.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

I am hardworking and very enthusiastic about my work and in design generally. I always endeavour to produce any work to the best of my abilities. I am also very interested in developing my skills and knowledge in every sense. I am also very keen to advance my computer skills as well as learning how to use new programs. I enjoy working to deadlines and working from briefs. I believe research is a very important part of all art and design work, and I find this particularly enjoyable to carry out. Without this I think any final outcomes would not fulfil the brief as appropriately.

I also possess a full, clean driving licence and a British passport.
